Great news ! CPS will soon be supported officially in Debian, by the
official Debian Zope team.
Meanwhile, we should start testing the packages they have provided.
Since
1. not everyone of us has a Debian distro,
2. the packages currently need you to upgrade to 'unstable', which not
everyone of us is willing to do,
I have created a minimal chroot evironment (using debootstrap) for
testing the packages.
So you just need to:
1. Download
http://www.cps-project.org/static/misc/chroot-debian-unstable-cps.tar.gz
2. Untar it
3. Chroot to it ('sudo chroot debian-unstable-cps').
4. Play with zope (run '/etc/init.d/zope start' then point your browser
to http://localhost:9673/manage with login: admin and passwd: nuxeo,
then create a CPS instance, etc.)
5. You may (and should) use the new command, 'dzhandle', for
administring your zope instances from now on.
Of course you need a running Linux to test it (I could also do a VMWare
image, or an UML image, or a Xen image, but chroots are easier to manage
and enough for this kind of testing, IMHO).
Note also that the package provided by Fabio is CPS 3.3.4, not 3.3.5,
but that's not the point.
Enjoy,
S.

Hi folks,
sorry (really sorry) for the long (long, long) delay of my answer, but
as you certainly know the things don't go always as one could imagine,
but I don't want to excuse me for this. Well, where I was?
Ah, ok.. the debian packages for zope-cps are ready! :)
You could find an initial version on my personal repository [1], ready
to be uploaded in experimental.
The packages are:
* zope-cps
* zope-cpsskins
* zope-cps-localizer
* zope-cps-portaltransforms
* zope-cps-translationservice
The last three DON'T conflict with zope-localizer,
zope-portaltransforms, zope-translationservice and zope-localizer,
thanks to the new infrastructure with zope-common (dzhandle rules!) and
dh_installzope from zope-debhelper.
I've setup the debian maintainer as the Debian Zope team, and the
uploaders to me, Marc-Aurèl and Encolpe. I don't know if I should have
done the same for Florent, but I think that's just a small fix.
You could install a prepackaged zope instance for CPS with just a:
# aptitude install cps-site (or apt-get if you prefer)
This will install zope2.7, zope-common, zope-cps*,
zope-{btreffolder2,ecc..}, will ask you about a default user and
password for the initial user and will start the new shining zope
instance on port 9673 (debian default for zope).
CPS is at 3.4.4, but won't be a problem to upgrade it to a different
version if required (and I think so).
Please, give me a feedback about the packages, check if they work so I
could upload them in experimental. By the way, the same packages will be
uploaded in Ubuntu breezy (we do the work once, and will get two
distros).
Thanks for your patience, I hope from now we'll work more timely than
what happend (for my fault) in the last months.
