AFAIK, there is no direct free (as in freedom) way to convert word documents 
into docbook. What you could do is write a specific portal_transforms engine 
that uses OpenOffice to do .doc -> .sxw -> docbook but it requires a bit of work 
  + need an openoffice instance running somewhere near your Zope server.

No engine to write PDF so far. There exists reportlab (a python library to write 
pdf reports/documents) but no one wrote a portal_transforms engine yet.
