You can use a Document Portlet for this (in the portlets editor).  
You'll have to set a guard in the same vein as this
python: published == 'folder_view'

Note that you might confuse some users by doing this because the doc  
you present and the section itself will look very much alike.  The  
other approach is to create a new type of section, and have it be its  
own front page - with the drawback that the publishing workflow  
doesn''t apply.
