Whether this is an acceptable statement or not is a business decision. :)

OI agree with Paul that the community is probably more important than 
the code. We need an integrated community to work on this *together*, 
and whatever bits and pieces come out of it are at least individually of 
lesser importance.

Just image what the Python interpreter development community would have 
done if the source code to Python was magically removed from the Earth 
in say, 1998. Then compare this with the scenario where the Python 
interpreter developers themselves were magically removed from the Earth 
in 1998, but the source code of Python 1.5.2 would still be around. The 
first is more preferable than the latter.
